About SL
$SL is a charity meets crypto story. On the night of October 27th, a volunteer and former teammate/supporter of the charity organization, the Society Library, tweeted to his followers to donate crypto to the charity’s wallet. In addition to various meme-coin donations, an anonymous creator made the $SL coin and gifted 50% to the Society Library. The Society Library had a few choices: ignore, return, dump, or embrace. They chose to embrace. They held. Although new to crypto, they locked 40% of their holdings for a year (October 2025) and are currently consulting their network to develop plans for a sustainable win/win strategy for the coin. Their goal is to grow the value of the coin, so that with time, they can eventually, slowly support their nonprofit work while maintaining the stability of the coin for the community to actively trade and invest in. They are committed to be ethical and earnest stewards of the coin for the community. Check their X page for communications about strategy. The Society Library is an established tech nonprofit organization that has a platinum star transparency rating with the charity industry rating organization, Guidestar. They are working on modeling civilization-scale deliberation and truth-seeking technologies. After years of pioneering manual methods and creating a bespoke ontology, they are now automating with AI. Their work includes creating AI search agents, fine-tuned models for multimodal artifact deconstruction, AI debate prediction, and more. They have worked with entities at various levels of government, are leading in their field, have won grants from many reputable scientific and truth-seeking entities (including the Foresight Institute and the IFCN) and have educated students through educational internships via relationships with 32 Universities; including developing a program at the request of the USC Political Science Department to teach students how to build their political decision-making models (a “micro-voting protocol” they developed). The leaders of the Society Library have a long history in the non-profit sector, including helping the Internet Archive (Archive dot org) launch a new department collecting government documents. They did not create this coin, they were gifted it, but they are embracing it. Again, while new to the crypto sector, they are committed to being excellent stewards. They are researchers, they are technical, and they are taking this on for the long haul. LFG.
